If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I occasionally receive skincare and beauty products to review from Influenster. If you haven’t heard of Influenster I will link their website below, it’s a great platform for new bloggers (or anyone really) who would love to receive complimentary products to test out and review! The latest VoxBox campaign I was chosen for was the Dermalogica UltraCalming Duo Box. This box included their Calm Water Gel & Barrier Defense Booster:
For reference my skin type is: Oily/Combo, prone to breakouts, sensitive and sometimes prone to dry patches.
The Calm Water Gel hydrated my skin well and a little goes a long way! It does have a medicinal like smell to it, but this is because there is no added fragrance, which makes it suitable for sensitive skin types. The scent didn’t bother me too much because the product worked well for me.
The Barrier Defense Booster smells amazing! It has a lavender scent (from the Lavandula Hybrida Oil that is in it) and helps moisturize my skin when needed. These products were great during winter the air is dry when my skin gets dry patches. Adding a couple drops of this in the Calm Water Gel provided so much needed hydration.
Overall, I really liked both products and will continue to use them in my nighttime skin routine when needed. The only thing that didn’t work for me was that my makeup did not last as long as it normally does when I used either of these products in my daytime routine. I tried using both together, the oil with my normal moisturizer and the Calm Water Gel itself but unfortunately had the same outcome. This isn’t a complete deal breaker for me though since both products worked so well to hydrate my skin without irritating it. If you have normal/dry sensitive skin, I would definitely recommend to try these out!
